Yet Ferrari protagonist at Montmeló: the Scuderia di Maranello achieved the best time of the second day of pre-season tests on the Catalan circuit. Credit to Charles Leclerc, whose 1: 19.689 – obtained with the C3 – put all the competition in line, starting with Pierre Gasly (+0.229). The Monegasque was a tenth slower than Lando Norris’ time yesterday, but the Briton had hit it with a softer compound.
Therefore, the first signs are encouraging. But they are tests, and no conclusions can be drawn. The further 150 laps ground by F1-75 are much more comforting: 71 for Carlos Sainz, 79 for Leclerc, who focused on the C1, C2 and C3 specifications. The Ferrari also reached an altitude of 303 completed laps (1416 km), confirming itself as the car with the most road to its credit. These are the words of Leclerc, who will be back in the car tomorrow morning: “Today was another productive day in which we were able to complete the program we had planned: in this initial phase this is the most important aspect. We rode both with the C2 compound and with the C3 and this allowed us to better define its behavior on our car. I could try different trim adjustments and the 71 laps made in the morning are an excellent booty. From today we have also started to refine the driving style and so I was able to gain further confidence with the car. I am satisfied with the work carried out so far with the team and I am confident of being able to continue like this tomorrow“.
