Yesterday, Lebanese General Security announced that it was implementing measures to control and organize the file of Syrians on Lebanese territory.
The General Directorate of Public Security said, in a statement, that Public Security departments and centers have begun implementing a number of measures, including requiring Syrians who violate the entry and residency system to go directly to the border departments and centers to grant them the necessary facilities to regularize their situation and leave Lebanese territory.
The measures also include emphasizing not to employ, shelter, or provide housing for Syrians residing illegally in Lebanon, in addition to not allowing Syrians registered with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees to engage in any paid work outside the sectors specified for them.
The Directorate indicated the resumption of organizing “voluntary and safe” returns of Syrian nationals wishing to return to their country under the supervision of the Directorate, and the cessation of granting or renewing residencies under a housing lease contract, in addition to stopping the work of granting or renewing residencies.
The Directorate pointed out the amendment of the conditions for renewing residency permits under a financial guarantee, in addition to closing all violating institutions and shops managed or invested by Syrians and taking appropriate measures against anyone who employs foreign workers in violation of the residency system and the labor law.
