Will the Ford Mondeo not retire after all?
Until March 2022, then the Ford Mondeo would retire after a career spanning nearly 30 years. Because the Blue Oval had no successor planned, because the commercial focus has completely shifted to cross models and other SUVs. After all, a classic saloon such as the Ford Mondeo has become obsolete.
In Europe anyway, because images have surfaced in China of a completely new Ford Mondeo. Although the 4.9 meter long body seems to be a bit higher than with the current generation, the lines look very recognizable. The front is somewhat reminiscent of the Ford Evos Concept presented at the Shanghai Motor Show at the beginning of 2021, which has now been given a production variant in the People’s Republic.
The badge on the tailgate of the leaked Ford Mondeo says Ecoboost 245, a direct reference to the 2 liter turbo petrol under the hood. It drives the front wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. There is no electrical assistance. And not a European version either.
