Valentino Rossi will race his first 24h of Le Mans with a special livery that Team WRT presented this morning.
Both BMWs entered in the LMGT3 Class of the FIA World Endurance Championship by the Belgian team will be presented at the Circuit de la Sarthe with new colours, especially the one that the ‘Doctor’ shares with Ahmad Al Harthy and Maxime Martin.
In the case of the M4 GT3 #46, compared to what has been seen so far in the top endurance series, the basic blue with white and fluorescent yellow inserts are re-proposed, echoing the scheme present on the helmet of the driver from Tavullia, while the #31 of their teammates is a tribute to the 1977 BMW “Ufo”.

“The red and white inspiration of the #31 comes from the BMW Luigi Team’s 1977 UFO BMW 3.0 CSL. The emblematic livery has a particularly special connection with Team WRT. Not only was it run by a group of great Belgians success, but Pierre Dieudonné, DS of WRT since 2011, was one of the drivers of this Le Mans-winning car”, explains the note issued by the team led by Vincent Vosse.
“It was precisely that car that was the first real racing inspiration of our boss Vincent Vosse, who has since then fondly kept a sticker of this car. Coincidentally, Pierre gave Vincent an identical copy of the sticker only two years ago… It was a sign!”
“To continue to create a two-car team atmosphere, the blue and yellow, which the #46 races in GT World Challenge Europe in Sprint and Endurance Cup has been brought back in the new guise for the FIA WEC, to match the style of the #31. The most attentive will also have noticed the symbols of flames, the sun and the crescent that regularly adorn Valentino Rossi’s helmets”.
The appointment is for the weekend of 15-16 June, the days in which the 92nd edition of the French classic will be staged, valid as the fourth round of the WEC 2024.
