Last year it was revealed that to upgrade certain PS4 games to PS5, such as Grand Touring 7 Y god of war ragnarok, users will have to pay an additional $10. This all started because this process caused a controversy with Horizon Forbidden West. Although Guerrilla Games’ new work can be upgraded without paying this extra, a lawyer has noted that this sequel is still priced at $69.99 on the new console, and is accusing Sony of taking advantage of gamers.
currently buy Horizon Forbidden West on PS4 it comes out at $59.99 dollars, but the price increases $10 dollars on PS5, this despite the fact that the update between generations is free. Thus, Richard Hoeg, attorney at Hoeg Law, has accused Sony of false advertising in this section, since the improvement is not advertised properly. This was what he commented:
“For people who don’t follow what’s going on here, Sony is offering a PS4 version with a ‘free’ PS5 upgrade for $60 and a PS5 version with a PS4 copy included for $70.
Same package. Two price points. With one displayed more prominently than the other.
It gets worse. The PS4 version doesn’t appear to be offered through the store on a PS5, regardless of whether or not only PS4 games are ordered.
Hell, they didn’t even update their FAQ (which is now a complete lie). Tell me, how are casual shoppers supposed to navigate this? It’s like they want to be sued.
Things like ‘deceptive’ or ‘unfair’ practices are always a bit in the eye of the beholder, so while I can say that I personally feel that this kind of thing is over the top and looks deceptive at first glance, I can’t guarantee that a regulator like the FTC or a judge would feel the same way.
Practically, not legally, I would definitely recommend that Sony change course on this.”
Folks leapt on me for my Tweet on this a week ago, but there is no defending this kind of business model from the Sony PlayStation folks. They appear to be deliberately confusing the price point in an effort to “steal” $10 dollars from the uninformed. Duplicity and greed. https://t.co/G7OoRzGf2U pic.twitter.com/oSurdmIJOy

At the moment this is just an accusation, and there is no legal procedure in this regard, although it is not ruled out that something like this will happen in the future. The PS5 version has visual improvements, use of DualSense, 3D audio and faster loading times.
Horizon Forbidden West It will arrive on PS4 and PS5 on February 18, 2022. In related topics, you can check our review of this game here. In the same way, these are the best memes that the “Aloy bearded” left us.
Editor’s Note:
Richard Hoeg’s position makes sense. If the upgrade is free, the price difference doesn’t make much sense. A person might as well buy the PS4 version and just upgrade the game on PS5, saving $10. The problem is that this information is not clear enough for the consumer.
