The Russian leadership announced that it does not refuse to hold negotiations with Kyiv, shortly after the difficult defeat suffered by Russian forces in Ukraine.
“Russia does not reject negotiations with Ukraine, but the longer the process is postponed, the more difficult it will be to reach an agreement,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told state television on Sunday.
It is noteworthy that the negotiations, which began shortly after the start of the Russian offensive against Ukraine, have been suspended for months.
Officially, Moscow holds Kyiv responsible for stopping the negotiations.
But at the same time, Russia sets strict conditions for peace, namely, that Ukraine not only dispense with joining NATO, but also agree to give up large parts of the territory, as Moscow demanded to give up the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
