Laprovittola, positive for covid-19

One day after the announcement of the positive Zinedine Zidane in the soccer team, Real Madrid confirmed another case of covid-19, this time in the basketball section: that of Nicolás Laprovittola. The 30-year-old Argentine baseman tested positive in the last tests carried out on Laso’s team before the game that they must play tomorrow at the WiZink Center against MoraBanc Andorra, corresponding to the 21st day of the Endesa League (12.30pm). Laprovittola participated normally in last Thursday’s Euroleague match against Maccabi in Tel Aviv, in which he spent 24 minutes on the court, with six points and four assists in his statistics. If, in the repetition of the tests established by the protocol, it is confirmed that Laprovittola’s is an isolated case, the match will be played as scheduled. A video of the squad “thoroughly preparing” the duel against Andorra was broadcast on the club’s channels without further news.

Laprovittola’s positive is the second case of covid-19 that has been registered this season in basketball Madrid after Fabien Causeur’s positive in mid-October before taking on Bilbao Basket; the third contagion officially reported in the squad, adding that of Trey Thompkins in March, which led to the cancellation of the Euroleague. Between the mandatory quarantine and the progressive return to activity after recovering from the contagion, Causeur spent more than a month off the slopes (from October 18 to November 20) and missed 12 games. Laprovittola now joins the casualties of Llull and Rudy and accentuates the problems for Laso in the direction of the team, who is left with Alocen as the only pure point guard. In addition to the match scheduled for tomorrow Sunday against Andorra, Madrid will face six games in the next 14 days before facing the Cup (Panathinaikos, Gran Canaria, UCAM Murcia, Baskonia and Estudiantes at home and Alba Berlin away).
