Before the break, Genk had taken the lead via Theo Bogonda, but in the extra time of the first half, Matej Mitrovic put the equalizer on the scoreboard.
From eleven meters, Lang scored the 2-1 in the 48th minute. Lang did receive a yellow card because he celebrated his goal a little too exuberantly with the fans of Bruges. Two minutes later, Club seemed to decide the match via Clinton Mata: 3-1.
Not much later, Van den Brom brought former Ajax player Carel Eiting into the squad. At the start of the second half, Cyriel Dessers, former player of Heracles Almelo and FC Utrecht, among others, had already entered the field. Genk still managed to score against, but only did so well into injury time in the second half. The goal was scored by Finnish substitute Jere Uronen.
In addition to Lang, striker Dost also had a base place at Club Brugge. The same applied to the only 16-year-old midfielder Noah Mbamba. Dost was replaced fifteen minutes before time and Lang in the 85th minute. Captain Ruud Vormer was missing. He went into preventive isolation after being in close contact with a person who tested positive for the coronavirus. Vormer himself was found to be negative, but as a precaution, will not be seen at his club for the time being.
