Herbert Diess relaunches the comparison between Lamborghini and Ferrari. We are talking about two Italian excellences famous all over the world for the production of high performance supercars, often placed one in front of the other in a comparison that has almost always seen the Maranello house come out as a winner. The CEO of the Volkswagen Group was also asked about this, considering that Lamborghini is part of the German group: in his opinion, the brand of the Bull it’s not that far behind compared to the level and prestige guaranteed by Ferrari.
“Lamborghini is doing very well, with double-digit returns and a well underway electrification program – Diess commented to Automobilwoche microphones – The mark of the Bull he does not need to escape from the confrontation with Ferrari: we have younger customers, we are stronger in Asia and we have a much wider range of models “. According to the number one of the Volkswagen Group, therefore, Lamborghini can boast a series of strengths that the rival of Maranello cannot show off. If, however, Diess may have hit the mark on the first two aspects, i.e. on the greater appeal for younger customers and on the good performance of the brand in Asia, the same cannot be said of the vastness of the range: at the moment Lamborghini offers the Huracan, Aventador, Urus and Sian models, while Ferrari offers its customers the Portofino, Roma, 296 GTB, F8 Tributo, 812 and SF90 models, as well as exclusive and limited production cars.
It remains to be seen whether the advent of electrification will change the cards on the table. Lamborghini will launch its first 100% electric car by 2030, and will consist of a 2 + 2 seater capable of dealing with everyday use. In response, Ferrari will also debut its first battery-powered model by 2025. “We are very excited about our first all-electric Ferrari, which we plan to unveil in 2025 and you can be sure – Elkann had announced a few months ago – Everything that in your imagination the engineers and designers of Maranello are able to conceive for such a point of reference in our history, will be realized ”.
