In recent days, rumors about the Lamborghini’s electrified future. After outlining the stages in the decarbonization process of the Toro range, CEO Stephan Winkelmann unveiled the first rumors regarding the first 100% electric model that the company will launch on the market in 2028: it will be a brand new four-seater crossover, and will be followed by second generation of the Super SUV Urus also this in battery-powered version.
“When we talk about our first all-electric car, it’s clear our approach will be clear and cautious – explained Winkelmann to Autocar microphones – Clear why we say: ‘Yes, electrification is part of our future’. And prudent because instead we affirm: ‘It is a completely new car, and it will position itself in a segment in which we have not been in for decades, if we are talking about a 2 + 2 or four-seater, perhaps even with more ground clearance ”. The number one of the carmaker del Toro added that while the idea is to equip this car with a higher ground clearance than that of a normal car, a final decision has yet to be made: “We are deciding this year what kind of car it will be, and not just in terms of volume, prices and body style. If all goes according to our plans, we will kick off the project by the end of this year“.
For what concerns the platform, the battery and the engine technology that will characterize this future electric signed by Lamborghini, Winkelmann preferred not to reveal any details, and raised a doubt: is it better to produce independently or buy from other manufacturers? “Making is important for the brand’s DNA, it is clear that the car must be a real Lamborghini – concluded the CEO of the Casa del Toro – But on the other hand, there is no manufacturer that does everything internally, so we have the option to buy within the group or even outside the group. This is a great advantage we have“.
