In addition to Westbrook, the Lakers also sign the 10-time All Star winger for a year. And guard Monk also comes from Charlotte
The Lakers continue to dominate the scene in this NBA post season. After the maxi trade on the night of the Draft that brought Russell Westbrook (Kuzma, Harrell, Caldwell-Pope and a draft pick in exchange in Washington) to Los Angeles, the Californian franchise has officially signed Carmelo Anthony: a year of contract for the former Portland winger, 10-time All-Star.
Anthony will therefore play alongside Lebron next season, the two have been friends for years. Last season, after the controversial interlude he lived in Houston, Carmelo found good numbers, which will certainly be comfortable in the Lakers’ rotations (13.4 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 24.5 minutes of average played, touching the 41% from distance). The goal of the franchise was to extend the rotations around the Big Three, despite the limited resources in terms of salary cap: the Westbrook-James-Davis trio will in fact go to affect the Californian team’s roof for 121 million next season. And besides him, the Lakers win another important free agent: guard Malik Monk, freed from Charlotte yesterday after 4 seasons.
