“Only 50% of patients with chronic pathologies, including diabetes, COPD and hypercholesterolemia, take their medications correctly. An alarming figure to say the least because for the treatments to be effective you need to have therapeutic adherence of at least 80% There are drugs but they are ineffective because they are not taken regularly and appropriately. Many patients abandon therapy after just 6-12 months of treatment, with important repercussions on the health of patients who suffer from cardiovascular diseases such as stroke and heart attack, and on public health costs. I insist, therapeutic adherence today can represent a real turning point for the sustainability of the national health system”. This was said by Sergio Lai, director of Fipc Italian Heart Foundation, speaking at Welfair on “fair of doing”, an event organized in the capital by Fiera Roma Srl in partnership with Experience Srl to encourage effective dialogue between doctors, companies and governance.
