After one hundred days of war in Ukraineunfortunately, people continue to die. The conflict carried on by the Russialike any battle between men, it exclusively brought suffering. Not only between the two opposing states, but well beyond the disputed borders. Entire continents are waiting for positive news on the resumption of trade, and many companies are waiting for peace to make up for lost time without putting workers in danger.
Although it is the humanitarian crisis that worries the most, also the industrial one has its importance, in Ukraine as in Russia. While the western part of the country whose capital is Kiev is continuing to produce relatively normally, the eastern part is devastated by bombing. In Russia, on the other hand, sanctions have hit various production sectors, and the farewell of various multinationals has profoundly changed the economic context. An excellent farewell, that of Renault, for example, led the car manufacturer AvtoVAZ to stop production pending a new corporate structure. Today it seems that a return to car assembly has been announced.
It will be the model Lada Granta to put Russia back in a position to produce cars. Starting next June 8, the new owner of AvtoVAZ, the scientific institute NAMI, will reactivate the machinery and will recover the raw materials to carry on the production of the vehicle. The Granta had not been produced since March due to a shortage of electronic parts.
It is not clear whether the lack of previous components will be compensated for by material arriving from countries that have not sanctioned Russia (for example, China) or by internal reserves, if Vladimir Putin’s loyalists were able to restart an economy self-sufficient. In any case, the Russian auto market has collapsed and it will take much bigger investments to get the sector back to being financially sound.
