Kylian Mbappe moves to Real Madrid: transfer date, fee and transfer details

French striker Kylian Mbappe has moved to Real Madrid. This was announced on website club.

The contract was signed for five years – until the end of the 2028/2029 season. Other details of the transfer have not been reported.

Mbappe commented on the transition on his page on the social network X, accompanying the post with photographs of children in a Real Madrid uniform. He shared that he is very excited and cannot wait to meet the Madrid team.

Mbappe announced his departure from PSG on May 10, not without scandal

Mbappe said he decided not to renew his contract with the French club. However, he did not name the new club right away.

After this, it became known about a quarrel between Mbappe and PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi. The head of the club was unhappy that the footballer did not thank him in his farewell video. Initially, it was reported that there was a fight between the men, but this information was later denied, noting that it was a heated conversation.

Mbappe has played for PSG since 2017. Together with the team, he became the champion of France six times, won the national Cup four times and the Super Cup three times.

Real Madrid tried to sign Mbappe for more than two years

Real Madrid’s attempts to sign Mbappe were first discussed in March 2022. He was expected to join the club in the summer of 2022, when his agreement with PSG expires.

However, in the end the transfer fell through. PSG was able to retain the forward, offering him a contract for two years with an option to extend for another year and a record salary.

“I am convinced that here I will be able to develop further and will be able to demonstrate football at the highest level,” Mbappe noted. He also admitted that his decision was influenced by the desire to perform in his homeland.

Mbappe is one of the most expensive football players in the world

Transfermarkt estimates that the 25-year-old French striker is worth €180 million. He is among the top 3 most expensive football players along with his new teammate Jude Bellingham and Erling Haaland from Manchester City.

At club level, Mbappe also played for Monaco. Together with the Monegasques, he won the French championship in the 2016/2017 season.

As part of the national team, Mbappe won the 2018 World Cup in Russia and won silver at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. At the latter he became the top scorer, scoring eight goals. In addition, together with the French national team, the forward won the Nations League in 2021.
