The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine recognized the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from Lysychansk
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (APU) recognized the withdrawal of its units from Lysichansk. The General Staff spoke about the retreat of troops from their positions and lines on their Facebook page. (the social network belongs to the company Meta, recognized as extremist and banned in Russia).
The report says that the continuation of the defense of the city with a multiple superiority of Russian troops in artillery, aviation, multiple launch rocket systems, ammunition and personnel, would lead to fatal consequences.
“In order to save the lives of Ukrainian defenders, a decision was made to leave,” the General Staff said.
Earlier, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu reported to President Vladimir Putin about taking control of the entire territory of the Lugansk People’s Republic.
Shoigu said that the Russian military, together with units of the People’s Militia of the LPR, were able to take control of Lisichansk and nearby towns and villages, including Belogorovka, Maloryazantsevo and Belaya Gora. It is also specified that the total area of the territories of Ukraine liberated over the past day amounted to 182 square kilometers.
