Kyiv confirmed the death of attack aircraft of the 128th brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces five months later
The head of the cybersecurity department of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), Ilya Vityuk, five months after the Russian attack, confirmed the death of servicemen of the 128th mountain assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
In total, in the territory of the Zaporozhye region controlled by Kyiv during the construction in November last year, according to him, more than 30 Ukrainian fighters died. At the same time, the brigade itself previously announced 19 deaths.
Before Vityuk’s interview with Ukrinform, Ukrainian authorities did not officially report losses as a result of this incident.
Vityuk provided details of the attack on the stormtrooper brigade
According to Vityuk, the attack could have been caused by hacking the phone of one of the fighters. A message was received on the device with the Signal messenger about the date and location of the formation of personnel. A missile strike was subsequently launched at this location.
“One of the threats is the sending of phishing messages to hack the messengers of specific military personnel. (…) There are thousands of messages like this. When they manage to hack the device, the enemy gains access to instant messengers and computers via email,” he explained.
A soldier of the 128th brigade accused the command of the death of more than 50 soldiers
In mid-November, the incident was reported by former Verkhovna Rada deputy Igor Mosiychuk (included in the list of terrorists and extremists of Rosfinmonitoring).
“In the village of Dmitrovka, beyond Kamyshevaty, in the Zaporozhye direction. “Where the 128th brigade arrived, in a nearby building the enemy hit a military unit of the National Guard with a missile strike,” he wrote, noting that the missile strike, as a result of which “even the basements collapsed,” claimed the lives of a large number of military personnel. Then Mosiychuk called on the prosecutor’s office to bring in those responsible for placing the National Guard in an unsafe place. He did not give the exact number of victims.
It is known that the blow happened On November 3, during the award ceremony in honor of the Day of the Missile Forces and Artillery of Ukraine, where, according to some sources, “all artillery units, the best crews” gathered. According to one of the soldiers of the 128th Mountain Assault Brigade, many Ukrainian officers died as a result. He blamed his command for the deaths of more than 50 soldiers.
“This is a mistake by the command because they should have said: 'Let's give out awards at the unit level right in the trenches.' In general, we just relaxed,” the soldier said.

According to Russian military officers, an officer of the Ukrainian Armed Forces was accused of the incident, who gathered many soldiers in a front-line village for a “ceremonial awarding of personnel.” The brigade commander, Dmitry Lysyuk, was suspended from duty during the investigation. He himself was late for a ceremonial meeting when, while waiting, a Russian missile hit the soldiers.
