On Thursday, Kuleba indicated that the negotiations he held with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, were difficult, pointing out that he had made all his efforts to find a diplomatic solution to the disaster in Ukraine, as he described it.
“I would have liked to leave the meeting with guarantees regarding humanitarian corridors, especially with regard to Mariupol,” Kuleba said after the trilateral meeting he had with the Russian and Turkish foreign ministers in Antalya.
“We also discussed the issue of a 24-hour ceasefire to resolve the most pressing humanitarian issues,” he added.
“We have not made progress on the ceasefire because Lavrov was not authorized to make decisions,” he added.
He concluded his speech by saying, “I will remain ready to meet with my Russian counterpart in order to seek diplomatic solutions to stop the suffering of civilians.”
