Fans of the sporty touring genre have known for a while: if you want to combine razor-sharp steering qualities with a good portion of comfort and endurance, then the KTM 1290 Super Duke GT is the place to be. For 2022, the Austrians lightly tickled the touring gun.
KTM also had to work with the Super Duke GT because it got a slap on the wrist from the Euro5 gestapo. And so the LC8 block was primed for the stricter emissions standards, as was previously announced with the 2022 KTM Super Duke. Fortunately, the fat two-cylinder has not lost anything in terms of power. With 175 hp @ 9,750 rpm and a peak torque of 141 Nm @ 7,000 rpm, you can still do an Alpine trip in half a day.
As with the KTM Super Duke, the 1290 Super Duke GT now also gets the lighter wheels; with one kilo less on the scale, this mainly saves in unsprung weight, and those are precisely the kilos that you feel when you are steering.
As on the ‘old’, the 2022 1290 Super Duke GT has semi-active WP Apex suspension, but you now have a view of a larger 7” TFT display with illuminated joystick behind the wheel. You can then select the Turn-by-Turn navigation that you can link via the KTM Connect App. Fast and practical… It doesn’t get any better.
The price of the KTM 1290 Super Duke GT is not yet known, it will be at the dealer from January.
