Sad news that of death at 49 years of Mike Faheyvideogame journalist of Kotaku who for more than sixteen years has written about his passions: toys, snacks and giant robots, as well as of course video games.
The death was confirmed by his partner Eugene Abbott. In 2018, Fahey had undergone an aortic dissection, which it is defined by the MSD Manual “an often fatal disease in which the inner layer (cassock) of the aortic wall tears and separates from the middle layer of the aortic wall.”
Following the surgery, Fahey was confined to a wheelchair. Unfortunately, in April Fahey suffered another laceration that led to his death from a related infection.
Fahey joined Kotaku in 2006, after getting noticed for comic posts about Pikachu. Brian Crescente, editor-in-chief of Kotaku from 2005 to 2011, immediately wanted him in his stable because he “he was a funny type”, that is, he could write funny things in a natural way. “I think what he liked most was making people laugh,” Crescente commented on the disappearance of his colleague and friend.
A big fan of pop culture and a pen inspired by the lightest gaming culture, Fahey’s passions ranged from Transformers to Final Fantasy, via Street Fighter and Madden NFL. He was also a huge fan of role-playing games.
Fahey leaves behind partner Abbott and two sons, Seamus and Archer, both 11 years old. On Gofundme was launched a campaign to support his family.
