Journalists reported that there is a natural fire near the village of Naystenjärvi, covering an area of 800 hectares. The fires have not yet threatened the houses.
As it became known on July 12, due to large wildfires in the Suojärvi region, Mount Vottovaara, a popular tourist destination, may be destroyed. The protected area covers an area of more than 1.5 thousand hectares. The Prosecutor’s Office of Karelia has begun checking the work of firefighters in the forests, as well as the readiness of the forces to extinguish the fire. The fires are mainly caused by people who come to collect cloudberries.
