Who is Cringe has certainly used Kodak rolls for analog cameras. This is a brand that we immediately associate with the universe of photography of our earliest memories, however, Kodak has also been present in the smartphone segment.
In 2016, more specifically, we saw Ektra appear on the market, a “photographic smartphone”. It doesn’t take long for us to realize its ‘success’, as most of us may not remember its existence.

Kodak’s return to this smartphone universe may happen soon, but now with the support of a great brand that continues to grow, Realme.
Despite the golden years, Kodak began to experience financial difficulties due to the decline in demand for photo rolls and, along with this, the company did not know how to quickly adapt to the change to the digital universe.
Only in 2012, after having already gone through a bankruptcy protection process, it announced its entry into the digital segment with some proposals, but many of its patents ended up being sold to big technology companies such as Google, Microsoft, Amazon or Samsung .
The passage through smartphones took place in 2015, when it launched the IM5, and then, in 2016, with the Kodak Ektra. None of these were very successful, although Ektra can still be seen for sale.
In 2020, the company announced that it would work in the production of pharmaceutical materials, considering the time of pandemic that has begun to live. But now, it could be back in the smartphone segment.
According to some Chinese sources, Realme is working on a new smartphone, the Realme GT Master Edition. Reaffirming this information, a photo shared by the company’s Xu Qi Chase appeared on the Weibo social network, with the model’s name purposely blurred.
It was after this sharing that connections to Kodak began to emerge. First, Digital Chat Station talked about a realme collaboration with a major photography industry veteran. Then came another leak confirming that the partnership would be signed between Realme and Kodak.
Realme, despite its sustained growth, needs a model that makes it take the leap to become even more relevant in the market.
