As we already knew, Knockout City – game from Velan Studios – will become a free to play. Now, we have a way to find out the precise release date of this version: June 1, 2022. That date coincides with the arrival of Season 6. We can also see a dedicated trailer, below.
Making Knockout City a free to play clearly aims to attract new audiences, also thanks to the arrival of a new season. We also remind you that from that moment the game will not be published by Electronic Arts. Velan Studios will fully manage the project.
This also means Knockout City will be removed from EA Play on June 1st. Anyone who bought it or owns a copy obtained with the PS Plus will get a package “Loyalty Royalty BundleThis will contain “exclusive legendary cosmetics, XP boosts and 2,000 Holobux”.
By becoming free to play, the game should no longer require a subscription PS Plus, but it appears that the team is still working to make sure that this is the case. It is not clear what they mean for the moment.
The change of economic model brings with it some questions, related to monetization system. The game should remain the same though: Knockout City should continue to offer Holobux simply by playing, as well as buying it for real money. The Brawl Pass will still have a free version that unlocks some rewards, and there will also be a Premium version that includes the best rewards.
As for the Season 6, there will be a new boomerang-style ball that returns to the player after they hit the enemy. If you catch it quickly, the power and speed will increase. The Hideout hub will expand with an area to play football and basketball. In addition, there will be various special events over the course of the months.
Finally, here is the Knockout City review.
