Tim Klenist, Borussia Mönchengladbach striker, believes that he has a good chance to participate for the first time with the German “Machines” team, when he faces his host, the Bosnia and Herzegovina team, in the third round of the European Nations League for football, on Friday.
It was decided to call Klinest to the German national team roster for the first time, to compensate for the absence of striker Niklas Volkrug, who was ruled out due to injury.
“Expectations are high, of course. Returning to the country in the national team jersey will be very wonderful for me, in terms of my chances of playing,” Klenist said. “I think it’s relatively high. As an attacking player, it’s always a little easier.”
Kleinist moved to Gladbach from Heidenheim during the last summer transfer period, where he has scored 3 goals in 6 matches in the German League so far.
Kleinist said he was honored to be selected for the Germany squad, but admitted he missed the first two calls from Julian Nagelsmann, the team’s coach, because he was in a building materials store when his phone rang.
The German national team leads the third group standings in the first section of the group stage of the European Nations League, with 4 points, superior on goal difference to its closest rivals, the Netherlands national team, which it will meet in Germany in the fourth round of the group next Monday.
