The pink ball could add a Grammy award to your list of accomplishments, with an arrangement coming from Kirby Superstar.
Kirby’s appearance at The Game Awards 2021 is still a mystery, but he will be present during the next edition of the awards Grammy, the event that celebrates the best of each year within the music industry. Nintendo’s pink ball has been nominated within the category ‘Best Instrumental Arrangement or A Capella’.
This is the third Grammy nomination for a song from a video game. This nomination comes due to the enormous talent shown in the arrangement of ‘Meta Knight’s Revenge’ created by Charlie Rosen and Jake Silverman, which you can listen to at the beginning of this writing. This musical theme debuted in the title Kirby Superstar, released in 1996 for the Super Nintendo.
The arrangement is performed by The 8-Bit Big Band together with Button Masher, and puts a jazzy spin on the classic Nintendo piece. The nominees against whom this arrangement will compete are: Chopsticksby Richard Baratta; For the Love of a Princessby HAUSER; Infinite Love, by Emile Mosseri; and The Struggle Withinby Rodrigo y Gabriela.
This is the third time that video game musical themes have appeared at the event, the first being in 2010, with the triumph of Christopher Tin as ‘Best Instrumental Arrangement with Vocalist’ for a theme from Civilization IV, and the second in 2013, where the composer of Journey, Austin wintory, was nominated and lost in the category ‘Best Soundtrack Album for Visual Media’.
The 2022 Grammy Awards will be held next January 31, and you can now take a look at the full list of nominees.
