After a 28-year career at Square-Enix, Shinji Hashimoto he leaves the company and the entire sector, retiring to private life. His life was not only managerial but he actively participated in the development of video games: in addition to being the co-creator of Kingdom Hearts along with Nomura, he has worked on titles such as Final Fantasy IV and V and Chrono Trigger, but the list is very long indeed.
With a message on Twitter, he decided to greet the company, colleagues but above all the fans:

“Thanks for all your hard work. Today, May 31, I retired. Thanks to everyone who helped me at all levels during my tenure. From now on, I would like to give Square-Enix my support as its biggest fan. I am really grateful to you“.
For the occasion, Toshiyuki Itahana, the historical character designer of Square, also intervened, who wanted to pay homage to Hashimoto with an illustration of him. Therefore, a piece of history of the Japanese videogame industry is withdrawn.
