Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 will include different ethnicities, to address the controversies of the original

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 will also attempt to address the criticism the original received for the lack of diversity in the game world by including more ethnicities. So will it lose the historical coherence sought and boasted by the development team? Not exactly.

The Kingdom Come: Deliverance series is set in 15th century Bohemia. Some rail against Warhorse's choice not to include black people in the first chapter. The team tried to explain that they were a rarity, especially in rural areas, and that it would therefore make no sense to include them, but there was nothing they could do.

Now with Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 a loophole seems to have been found, as explained by Tobias Stolz-Zwilling, spokesperson for the studio, in an interview with IGN.com.

The big city

The city will be central

For Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, Stolz-Zwilling spoke of a game with an evolved story and plot compared to the first episode, much darker and more spectacular, but nevertheless full of choices to make and with that humorous touch that also characterized the first.

The map will be larger and will see Henry, the protagonist, travel from the countryside to a large city under siege, Kuttenberg. Precisely the latter allowed the inclusion of different ethnic groups, probably because it was a center of trade and transit for caravans of all kinds: “Naturally in a place like this people can expect many different ethnic groups and different characters that Henry will meet in his adventure ,” explained Stolz-Zwilling, who then reiterated: “We are trying to create a realistic and engaging medieval world, reconstructed to the best of what we know. Of course, to do this we not only have our own internal historian, but we have worked closely together with universities, historians, museums, historical representation enthusiasts and expert groups of different ethnic and religious beliefs, who we have actively incorporated into the development as external consultants.”

For the rest, we remind you that Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is in development for PC, Xbox Series X/S and PS5. It will be released during 2024. If you want to know more, read our preview.
