International Federation professor Rawda Al Serkal, player of our national team and Abu Dhabi Chess and Mind Games Club, succeeded in achieving a new achievement for UAE sport and the game of smart people by winning the silver medal in the Asian Amateur Championship, which concluded at Sultan Qaboos Complex in Muscat with the participation of 197 players from 23 countries, after achieving 7.5 points by half a point. For the gold medal, which was won by the Iranian Naderna, the International Federation professor and Dima Al Kalbani, the player of our national team and Al Ain Chess Club, won the award for the best player ranked below 1900 in the international classification.
After the competitions ended, Dr. Laila Al-Najjar, Minister of Local Development in the Sultanate of Oman, crowned the winners of the first places, and Hisham Al-Taher, Secretary-General of the Asian Chess Federation, and Ahmed Al-Balushi, Chairman of the Omani Chess Committee, participated in the coronation.
The tournament was held according to the Swiss system of 9 rounds, and each player got a thinking time of 90 minutes for the match, with an addition of 30 seconds for each move from the beginning of the match according to the Fisher system for classic chess tournaments. Mehrdadzadeh is the chief referee of the tournament.
Rawda (12 years old) is a champion who makes achievements after achieving a lot during her career despite her young age and reaching more than 30 global, continental and Arab achievements. India and the Asian silver will not be the last in the current season in light of the tournaments in which it is expected to participate, including the Arab Championship for the categories in Syria and the Arab Championship for men and women in Saudi Arabia.
Rawda has a great record of achievements, foremost of which is the gold medal in the World Championship for Juniors under 8 years old in Brazil and the gold medal in the World Schools Chess Championship under 9 years in Albania, in addition to winning the gold medal in the Asian Schools Championship for the six-year category in 2014 in Taipei, and in the same year She won the gold medal in the Asian Schools U-6 Championship, then the bronze medal in the Asian Junior Championships for 8-year-olds in 2014, the silver in the Arab U-8 Championship 2015, the bronze in the Asian schools under 7 years 2015 and the silver in the Western Asia for the U-8 kidnapper 2016 and she was crowned the Sheikh Mohammed bin Prize Rashid for Sports Excellence, Junior Category, 2016.
It also won the gold of the World U-8 Championship 2017, then the bronze of the World U-8 Schools Championship 2017, the gold of the Western Asia U-8 Championship 2017, the silver of the Western Asia U-8 Speedway 2017, the bronze of the World Schools U-8 Championship 2017, the gold of the World Schools U-9 Championship 2018 and the gold of the World Championship U-9 Schools 2018 The Arab World U-10 2018, and the gold medal in the 2019 Arab Teams Championship.
The talented girl topped the Fujairah Chess Championship, one of the World Chess Championship Series 2020, organized by the International Federation for Solving Chess Problems annually at the Fujairah Chess and Culture Club, after she won the gold medal in the third category.
