The delivery time has finally come for Kimera Automobili, the brand founded by Luca Betti in order to carry on the Lancia rally tradition. Through a captivating restomod of the Lancia Beta Montecarlo, Kimera designed the EVO37, a car that honors the legendary 037 capable of winning world rallies. The first car completed and delivered by Kimera was called Esmeraldadue to the bright green used for the bodywork.
The first Kimera EVO37 bears the chassis number 001/037, and was purchased by a Dutch entrepreneur who can claim to be the first actual owner of the model. The car was delivered in St. Moritz, Switzerland, and is the first of a limited series of just 37 cars, with a base price that is around 500,000 euros. The tradition of giving a woman’s name to each model will be maintained; it all started with the prototype, called Penelope.
Esmeralda has a dark green body with Alcantara interiors; the color combination in the interior consists of light beige, anthracite and green. Each delivery could become a real event, and the second car will be sent to Spain in April. A total of 26 orders were placed out of the 37 available, so there is still room to enter the truly exclusive club. The waiting list will be long for the latest arrivals, according to AutoExpress even beyond 18 months.
As is evident from the design, the strong point of the Kimera EVO37 is tradition: the car retains the character and personality of the original Beta Montecarlo, and more than a restomod it seems almost a natural evolution. Lancia enthusiasts are in fact particularly attracted to the shape of the carwhich attracts a large number of people to salons and events thanks to a mix of nostalgia effect and curiosity for all the modern details inserted internally and externally.
