KCNA: Kim Jong-un visited the DPRK special forces training base during the exercises
The head of the DPRK, Kim Jong-un, visited the North Korean army base in the west of the country, where he announced his intention to defend the sovereignty of the state, writes RIA Novosti with reference to the Central Telegraph Agency (CTNA).
As the agency noted, on Wednesday, October 2, Kim Jong-un inspected a special forces training base in the western part of the country. He got acquainted with how the soldiers’ training was going. KCNA said that at the time of the head of state’s visit, special forces exercises were being conducted at the base.
The military practiced hand-to-hand combat techniques using stone slabs and wooden beams, landing troops on the shore with scuba gear, as well as shooting from hand-held grenade launchers, parachute jumping and storming buildings.
As Kim Jong-un indicated, North Korea will use all offensive weapons to defend the state, including nuclear weapons, if the United States and South Korea try to violate its sovereignty.
Earlier, the United States and South Korea launched joint military exercises Ulchi Freedom Shield, aimed at strengthening their capabilities to counter nuclear threats from North Korea.
