North Korean leader Kim Jong-un congratulated Russian President Vladimir Putin on his 70th birthday and noted his merits in “building a strong Russia”, and also expressed hope for the further development of bilateral relations. This was announced on Friday, October 7, by the Central Telegraph Agency of Korea (KCNA).
“Comrade Kim Jong-un noted that the President of the Russian Federation for a long time in the responsible position of the head of state, with vigorous activity, achieved remarkable success in achieving the grandiose strategic goal of building a strong Russia, and that he enjoys the respect and support of the broad masses,” reports CTAC.
He also stressed that without the leadership and will of Vladimir Putin, Russia would not be able to successfully defend the dignity of the state, as well as its fundamental interests, from threats from the United States and its “vassal forces.”
In his telegram, the DPRK leader expressed his joy at the mutual support and cooperation between the DPRK and the Russian Federation, which, in the current realities, have become stronger than ever. He also expressed hope that the personal relations between the leaders of the two countries will influence the development of friendly state ties.
Earlier that day, Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega congratulated Vladimir Putin on his birthday. In his letter, he wished the Russian leader health, strength and love from his family and people.
On the same day, the Kremlin told about Putin’s birthday plans. It became known that the President of Russia will hold a meeting with the leaders of the CIS countries.
The day before, Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, said that working events were planned for the head of state on his birthday.
Last year, on his birthday, Vladimir Putin held an operational meeting of permanent members of the Russian Security Council. Peskov explained that the Russian leader celebrated in a busy mode.
