Veinty people have been kidnapped and murdered by armed men, allegedly belonging to a rebel group, in a forest in a southern state of South Sudan, an official statement reported this Saturday.
According to the criteria of
“Alleged fighters from the rebel group National Salvation Movement (MSN) kidnapped ten young people on Thursday night from the Wendria area (south), the They took them to a forest and executed them“said the Minister of Information of Central Equatoria State, Gerald Francis, according to the note.
“The same thing was repeated on Friday night in the Koli Baba area (in that southern state) where another ten people were murdered and dismembered with knives,” he added.
Francis considered that “this is a barbaric action, an unforgivable crime and a clear violation of thehuman rights”, and stated that the South Sudanese Government “is committed to pursuing those responsible for these crimes who have begun to attack citizens in their villages and safe areas.”
He also indicated that the authorities of Equatoria and the central government of Juba will deploy joint forces to secure the region and prevent attacks of this type from being repeated.
Tribal fighting and clashes are common in South Sudan due to the presence of armed rebel groups, as well as the Government’s inability to disarm tribes that clash from time to time over grazing, control of farmland for his cattle or revenge.
At least eight people were killed last week in an attack on a bus near Juba, in which Another 20 passengers were injured and 13 more remain missing.
Several areas of Central Equatoria are strongholds of MSN fighters, led by Thomas Cirilo, who rejects the peace agreements signed between other opposition groups and the central government of Juba and seeks the overthrow of South Sudanese president Salva Kiir.
