Keanu Reeves on the track
60 years old and not feeling it, and not just when it comes to admiring it as an action movie star. Keanu Reevesthe unforgettable Neo from the science fiction saga The Matrix, is in fact also a great motorsport enthusiast and is therefore often a guest in the GP paddock. On the weekend, however, the Canadian actor also tried his hand at the track actively taking part in the final stage of the North American Toyota GR Cup championship on the Indianapolis circuit (road, the internal one where F1 and MotoGP also raced in the past).
Reeves, the spin in race 1
A high-speed weekend for Reeves, who at the wheel of the Toyota GR86 demonstrated at least that he also has a certain familiarity with racing. Not without a small flaw: around the middle of race 1, on Saturday 5 October, the actor-driver ended up spinning and then on the grass escape routes however managing to return to the race without damage. Indeed, from that moment on Reeves made up ground, finishing the heat in 25th position (he had started 31st and rose to 21st place thanks to an accident involving some rivals in the early stages).
Indianapolis, the result of the weekend
Race 2 on Sunday was smooth and without any hitches, with Reeves finishing in 24th place after starting from 29th place. A particularly positive weekend therefore for the 60-year-old Canadian, who completed 100% of the laps in both heats without running into any accidents, if we exclude the spin on Saturday. However, this was not the first appearance on the track for the protagonist of the John Wick serieswho had already raced (and won) in Long Beach in 2009 in an exhibition race alongside the IndyCar reserved for celebrities. Lately Reeves has been the narrator and interviewer of the docu-series “Brawn: An impossible story of Formula 1” available on the platform Disney+.
