Filipino John Vincent Kayaba won the Blitz Chess Championship, as part of the Ramadan International Chess Festival, organized by Al Ain Chess and Mind Games Club, with the large participation of players from communities, Arab, Gulf and Asian countries, as well as Al Ain players. 49 players from 7 countries competed in “Blitz Chess” They are India, the Philippines, Bahrain, Egypt, Syria, Morocco and the UAE.
Kayaba won the first place cup and the gold medal in “blitzkrieg” with 8 points, followed by his compatriot Deloro (7.5 points), and the Moroccan international master Ali Sabbar.
The closing ceremony was attended and crowned by Saeed Hassan Shahdad Al Balushi, Executive Director of Administrative Affairs of Al Ain Chess and Mind Games Club.
The Blitz Chess tournament was held according to the Swiss system of 9 rounds, where each player got a three-minute thinking time for the match, with an addition of two seconds for each move from the start of the game according to the Fisher Blitz Blitz Chess system.
The tournament referees were headed by the international referee Ahmed Al-Nuaimi, assisted by the Egyptian federal referee Ahmed Adel and the referee Ahmed Al-Hamli.
