Kate Middleton’s first public appearance after announcing her illness. Dressed in white below the knee, she joined the royal family for the ‘Trouping the Colour’, a military parade held every year on the second Saturday in June to pay homage to the monarch even though her actual birthday is November 14th.
The Princess of Wales traveled in a carriage alongside her three children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis – for the traditional procession through London. The family had previously been seen arriving at Buckingham Palace in a car, with George sitting between mum Kate and Prince William while Charlotte and Louis sat opposite.
The future queen appeared relaxed as she traveled down one of London’s most famous streets with her family in the glass state carriage. Her appearance had been in doubt after she missed the final Trooping rehearsal last weekend, but with the king also suffering from cancer this parade has become a symbolic statement by the monarchy after a period of uncertainty.
King Charles also traveled in a carriage with Queen Camilla. While the monarch inspected the troops on horseback last year, this year he carried out the inspection sitting in a carriage.
The message on social media
“I’m not out of danger yet,” wrote Prince William’s wife in the message with which she announced her participation in the parade to celebrate King Charles’ birthday. “As everyone who undergoes chemotherapy knows, there are good days and bad days. On difficult days you feel weak, tired, you have to allow your body to rest. On good days, when you feel stronger, you want to take advantage under the most positive conditions,” he continued. “I’m learning to be patient, especially with uncertainty. I take each day as it comes, listen to my body and give myself time to heal,” Kate added. “The therapies continue and will last a few more months. On the days when I feel well, it is a pleasure to take care of the children’s school, “dedicate time to the things that give me energy and positivity, start working a bit from home”.
