Justice, Conte sees Draghi: “M5S ensures contribution, the goal is to avoid impunity”
It was a “fruitful and cordial” meeting that was held today at Palazzo Chigi between Giuseppe Conte and Mario Draghi, at least in the words of the former prime minister, who made some statements after the summit. The theme at the center of the face-to-face is the Justice Reform developed by Minister Cartabia on which Parliament should resume work today to proceed with the vote by the end of the month.
The leader in pectore of the M5S assured the “constructive contribution” of the Movement on the law, underlining, however, that the goal is not only to speed up and clarify the timing of the criminal trial, but to “avoid thresholds of impunity” and “ensure justice to the victims “. The invitation of the former prime minister to the other parties, including the Lega di Matteo Salvini, was to “abandon flags” and ideologies to speak to the Italians.
On the confidence of the Grillini parliamentarians in the law “there was no talk”, assured Conte, who also added that he was not interested in running for the seat in Siena – vacant after the resignation of the deputy dem Pier Carlo Padoan in November 2020 – because he is committed to relaunching the party after the “green light” by the guarantor of the Movement, the launch of the new statute and the charter of principles.
