Armor told “Emirates Today” that the program seeks to change the youth’s view of recyclable materials (waste), and said: “Making an impact on our planet requires realizing that not all trash is waste, and we should view it as A raw material that can be used to design something new and wonderful.”
He stated that the program urges participating students to search their environment around them to search for materials that can be used in their projects, and re-form them into fashions of aesthetic and artistic value, and to communicate with local companies to collect neglected items for them, for example, cafes and restaurants to collect bottle caps. He expected that more than 100 schools in the UAE would participate in this global competition, and schools have already confirmed their participation, explaining that it is possible to register in “Junk Couture” free of charge for all students between the ages of 13 and 18, and the participants will be asked to submit designs for innovative and sustainable clothing and their implementation Which allows them to move to compete in the final called “Junk Couture World”, scheduled to be held in September 2022, in which a high-level panel of famous personalities will be judged.
