June 2, Meloni: “Thanks to those who make Italy strong and respected”
“To those who believe in the value of freedom, national unity and the identity of the people. Today we proudly celebrate the 78 years of the birth of the Italian Republic and honor its history and traditions. Thanks to those, too by sacrificing his own life, he made Italy the nation who it is, and to those who every day, with honor and courage, contribute to making it strong, unique and respected in the world”. This is the message on social media from the Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, to celebrate Republic Day.
“It is the celebration of our democracy, the celebration of our unity and our pride”, added the prime minister on the sidelines of the Republic Day celebrations. The Prime Minister’s arrival at the traditional military parade at the Imperial Forum was greeted by applause from the stands.
“We are in an electoral campaign for the European elections and this party also reminds us of the first idea of Europe, which was an idea of Europe that imagined that its strength, the strength of its union, it was also the strength and specificity of national states. Maybe we should go back to that embryonic European idea and European dream”, said the Prime Minister who added, commenting on the ceremony: “It is an important and extraordinary celebration. Very important also in this phase because we are in a situation in which many certainties that we had, such as peace, are in question and ‘the Republic and the nation need it. The State needs to deal with’ the situation ‘with responsibility’.
