It is the fifth consecutive month of falling unemployment, which stands at less than 106,000 people, almost 10% less than a year ago
The arrival of summer has intensified the recovery of a labor market that was already experiencing positive signs in recent months.
July intensified that rebound and left 7,878 fewer unemployed in the Region of Murcia, the largest reduction in the historical series (since 1996). There are currently 105,940 unemployed registered on the SEPE lists, 6.92% less than the previous month (a drop above the Spanish average). It is the fifth consecutive month in which unemployment has been reduced in the Region, which reinforces the hopeful symptoms of the EPA published last week.
year-on-year, the conclusions are even more favorable: the drop in unemployment rises to 9.64%, also slightly above the national group, which means 11,298 fewer unemployed persons. The current records are still far from the levels of the pandemic awards, since in July 2019 there were 93,818 unemployed, but the economy is already starting to straighten the course after more than a year of pandemic.
Unlike 2020, the advancement of vaccination has completely changed the outlook. The progressive reopening and reactivation of tourism, especially national, which benefits the Region, have allowed hiring to be increased to a greater extent than last year. Not even the restrictions from the latest wave have slowed the trend.
Although the reduction in unemployment is general in all sectors of activity, it is concentrated in services, where 4,783 fewer are registered (it is also the one that accumulates the most, almost 70% of the total). The rest are at similar levels: industry falls by 628 unemployed, construction reduces by 484 and agriculture cuts by 426.
