Jujuy will celebrate its traditional carnival in February, but this year with restrictions, strong protocols and many controls to avoid crowds, due to the coronavirus pandemic, announced today the Minister of Culture and Tourism provincial, Federico Posadas.
The official specified that “only activities that have to do with the unearthing and the Carnival burial will be allowed,” and stressed that the participating groups must have the authorization of the Emergency Operational Committee (COE).
Regarding the restrictions, he indicated that each comparsa may have a maximum of 20 members in the milestones (the place where the celebration is held), in accordance with the sanitary protocol.
“You will only be able to access the places where the carnival is celebrated with a hotel reservation, a measure that will begin to run from Comadres Thursday (February 11),” the minister warned, adding that “the gastronomic reservation will not be authorized to be able to circulate “as when the internal tourism program” Jujuy para los Jujeños “was launched.

Virtual activities to honor the Virgin of Candelaria de Humahuaca
