The National Association of Circuit Magistrates and District Judges of the Judicial Branch of the Federation (JUFED) yesterday asked the CJF to set up a dialogue table to guarantee the labor rights of judicial workers, as a precondition for lifting the suspension of activities. In one of the agreements reached on Wednesday, the councilors also agreed to establish this dialogue table with the judges, with the purpose of safeguarding their interests.
The sources consulted indicated that the councilors who voted for the resumption of activities were:
– José Alfonso Montalvo Martínez, counselor – Sergio Javier Molina Martínez, counselor – Bernardo Bátiz, counselor – Verónica De Gyves Zárate, counselor – Celia Maya García, counselor Meanwhile, those who voted against the return to work and the resumption of the legal deadlines for trials were: – Norma Piña, Chief Justice – Lilia Mónica López Benítez, counselor On August 22, when the CJF decided by 4 votes to 3 to recognize the suspension of activities, counselor Montalvo – who supported the majority – warned that the suspension of activities could not be indefinite. For that reason, this Wednesday hundreds of CJF workers held a demonstration at the CJF headquarters in Insurgentes Sur, to ask the counselors to support the extension of the strike, especially Molina, who on the previous occasion cast a vote with reservations. The truth is that it was not only Molina who, in the session on Wednesday, changed the direction of the vote he cast on August 22; this Wednesday, Councillor Montalvo also spoke out in favour of reopening the courts for next Monday.
