The defense of federal judge Walter Bento gave up of the appeal that he had filed against the prosecution as the alleged leader of an illicit association dedicated to the collection of bribes in exchange for judicial benefits, and announced the decision to resort to international bodies, considering that the Federal Chamber of the province “is an impartial court.” Thus, he is betting on going faster to an oral trial, while waiting to know if the Council of the Magistracy opens a jury and suspends it.
Thus, the ruling issued by the federal magistrate of San Rafael, Eduardo Puigdéngolas, Puigdéngolas stood firm, and the lawyer Gustavo Gazali, who represents the accused federal judge, confirmed that yesterday he presented a document of 200 pages before the Federal Chamber of Mendoza, in which he dismissed the appeal he had presented.
Judge Bento, with electoral jurisdiction in the district, was prosecuted at the end of last July as the alleged leader of an illicit association dedicated to the collection of bribes and also an embargo of more than 327 million pesos on his assets and those of his wife, Marta Boiza.
“We will continue to produce the test. All those produced since the processing have been favorable to Bento. We are waiting for an accounting expert which is decisive, “said Gazali.
The defender assured that they go to appeal to the Organization of American States (OAS) and the United Nations (UN)
According to the document released, “Walter Ricardo Bento and Marta Boiza (his wife) desist from the appeal we filed against the prosecution issued by the Judge of San Rafael on July 26, 2021, since we are absolutely convinced that the Federal Chamber of Mendoza it is not an impartial tribunal“.
In that sense, they pointed out that “the resolution that confirms” their prosecutions “is already written” and they assured that the Federal Chamber of the province “is not interested in the truth.”
“We were convicted,” they added, “with lies without trial through a planned press operation. The lives of our children have been seriously affected. The judge and the Magistracy Council have been pressured. Many people have been deprived of their liberty. so that they falsely declare in exchange for their freedom. “
So far, the case in which Judge Bento is being processed has 24 defendants, of which ten were arrested, three of them with house arrest.
For the investigators, Bento was part of a gang that operated with a group made up of lawyers and intermediaries, among them the former customs broker Diego Aliaga, kidnapped and murdered a year ago, from which the initial investigation arose.
