Judge Juan Carlos Peinado has issued an order in which he launches an investigation into Begoña Gómez’s assets: he requests both a list of current accounts that she owns as well as the certificate of her marriage with Pedro Sánchez. The magistrate, who has been investigating the wife of the President of the Government for months, has made these requests for information, respectively, to the Judicial Neutral Point and the Civil Registry of Madrid.
The decision came a day after taking statements from several witnesses, including Juan José Güemes, former advisor to the Madrid governments of Esperanza Aguirre and director of the Business Institute for which Begoña Gómez works within the Africa Center. In the middle of his statement, the judge understood that Güemes’ statement was directly contradicted by the testimony of another IE worker and announced that he would be considered under investigation.
In the same ruling that summons Güemes to testify again, although now as a defendant, on November 18 as Begoña Gómez, the judge asks for more information. On the one hand, “the numbering of the current accounts in which Begoña Gómez appears as the owner, a request she makes to the Judicial Neutral Point. On the other hand, she asks the Civil Registry for “a literal marriage certificate with its marginal annotations” about her marriage to Pedro Sánchez. This information will include whether you are in a community property regime or in a separation of assets.
