Abu Dhabi (Etihad)
Jubail Island in Abu Dhabi celebrated the launch of the public arts program within the “Art of Living” exhibition. The exhibition, which reflects Jubail's commitment to enriching culture and society in Abu Dhabi, included a group of works by artists from around the world.
Guests had the opportunity to learn about the creative works on display and an overview of the community’s lifestyle on the island, in addition to enjoying an immersive atmosphere of lights, music and live performances in the open air.
“Jubail” launched the Public Arts Program, which is considered a new initiative that integrates art with the island’s community and its public spaces amidst the picturesque natural landscape. The artwork “Transformational Energy” by artist Tariq Al-Qasouf was the first work displayed within this year’s “Art of Living” activities.
Mahmoud Dandashli, Chief Business Officer at Lead Real Estate Development, said: “The public arts program was designed to encourage residents and visitors of Jubail Island to interact with art on a daily basis. Art has proven its ability to stimulate thought and imagination, appreciate its beauty and influence the emotions. The program reflects the essence of “The island adds more charm and beauty to it, and also enhances the positive impact on Abu Dhabi society and the UAE, achieving a sustainable impact and legacy for generations.”
He added: “Abu Dhabi attaches great importance to arts and culture, and the program comes as an initiative that aims to complement the emirate's journey and enhance its position as a forum for talent and a leading global destination for arts and culture, in addition to enhancing the experience of the Jubail Island community.”
Regarding his participation in the public arts program on Jubail Island, Tarek Al-Qasouf said: “I am proud of my contribution to the development of the thriving natural art scene on Jubail Island and in Abu Dhabi.”
He stated that the rapprochement between the stone sculptures and the mangrove reserves in “Jubail” may seem contradictory, but delving deeper into their symbolic harmony reveals the delicate and complex relationship that brings them together. There is harmony between the permanent artwork and the fleeting beauty of nature, and they both work together to provide a comprehensive experience in which stories of creativity are intertwined. Humanity and nature as a constant source of inspiration.
Tarek Al-Qasouf is an artist and sculptor who has won several international awards for his contemporary artwork. He constantly pushes the limits of what is possible in the world of sculpture and discusses the concept of balance after transformation.
The artwork by Tariq Al-Qasouf, called “Transformative Energy,” which is 3.25 meters high, includes 6 unique sculptures, each with a character and message. It was carefully designed using basalt stones and limestone rock, ensuring its durability and resistance to environmental factors. The artwork embodies the dynamic spirit and rapid development witnessed by the UAE, and is inspired by the country's commitment to sustainability and its ancient cultural heritage.
