John Arredondoan American/Colombian journalist covering the armed conflict between Russia and Ukraine, narrated the attack in which his colleague, Brent Renaud, was killed.
Arredondo said that they were about to cross a bridge in the city of Irpin, when the car in which they were traveling began to be attacked with bullets.
The Colombian journalist told an Italian media what happened while he was on a hospital stretcher where he was treated.
He said that they were about to film a group of refugees as they were leaving Ukraine, they got into a car that offered to take them and when crossing the bridge they began to attack them.

In fear and panic, the driver took another road, but the two journalists were shot: Renaud was shot in the neck and died, they had to leave him behind while the Colombian and the driver fled.
“The driver turned around and they kept shooting, there were two of us. My friend is Brent Renaud. They shot him and left him behind. I saw that he had been shot in the neck. We are divided”, expressed the Colombian.
Arredondo is a well-known photographer who was interested in the situation of the soldiers who enrolled in armed conflicts in Colombia, where he denounced that at least half were adolescents and even nine-year-old girls.
For his part, Reaud, 51, accompanied Arredondo to make a documentary about the refugees between the Russia/Ukraine conflict.
The last work published jointly by both journalists was “Ukrainian volunteers cut cloth into strips to make camouflage nets in Zhytomyr, Ukraine.”
This city was bombed by the Russian army; its citizens helped provide food and medicine to the Ukrainian military, as well as offering safe passage and shelter to citizens fleeing to the west of the country.
