Josh Brolin, actor in the movie Dune who plays Gurney Halleck, has used his social networks to complain against the 2022 Oscar nominees, specifically in the best director category. According to the interpreter, the filmmaker Denis Villeneuve should have obtained a place on that list.
Adapting Frank Herbert’s 1965 novel hasn’t been an easy job in the past, but for many director Denis Villeneuve pulled off the feat.

And that’s what Brolin thinks, who published a video in which he begins by greeting all the Dune team nominations but then goes on to complain very emphatically.
“And the incredible, almost numbing, disconcerting [noticia], that Denis Villeneuve has not been nominated for best director. it’s just one of those things where you’re like, ‘Huh? What?!’”, said the actor.

With a cast full of big stars like Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Jason Momoa, Oscar Isaac and Javier Bardem, the task of directing Dune was clearly not an easy one.

“It makes you realize that everything is amazing and then it’s all damn and totally dumb”, he lashes out, making his anger more evident.
Closing out his speech, Brolin only sarcastically added: “So congratulations on the incredible achievements that all these talented people have been recognized for, because everything is really stupid”.

Dune received no less than 10 nominations for the 2022 Oscar, and was just short of The power of the dog, which managed to be nominated for 11 statuettes.
