The scruffy and rocker appearance, as well as his taste for the Dungeons and Dragons game, presented him as a danger to society, so – after fleeing after seeing Chrissy’s death – the city of Hawkins did not hesitate to hold him responsible.
However, the viewer manages to see the true personality of the character, who turns out to be a lonely person, but with a big heart, who serves as a guide for the younger generation of the city.
Interpreting all this was not easy for the actor, who – in a recent interview with Tudum – revealed that he was heavily inspired by Johnny Deppone of his favorite actors and who was one of the most prominent figures of the 80s in Hollywood.
“I loved Captain Jack Sparrow. I think the character was an incredible interpretation of Johnny Depp. And I’ve stolen little parts of it that I’ve put a little bit on Eddie”, Quinn explained.
In addition to this personal influence of the actor, the appearance of the character was based on the true story of Damien Echols, from the case “The Three from West Memphis”.
