Seville has managed to position itself in recent years as a technological city referenceIn fact, in the words of the mayor, Jose Luis Sanzis “the great capital of innovation and technology of southern Europe.” This was stated during his last visit to one of the main driving forces of the sector: the Technological Corporation of Andalusia (CTA).
A meeting during which the mayor highlighted the work of CTA as “an engine of research, development and innovation (R&D&i) from Seville for the whole world.” In this sense, Sanz has stressed that the efforts of entities such as CTA strengthen the consolidation of Seville as the great technological and innovation reference. “Our city is on the world map of technology and R&D&I, leading projects that generate interest around the world,” he added.
Thus, he has praised the work of CTA, which for two decades has offered advisory services to companies and universities, helping them design and execute innovation strategies, from the identification of needs to the formulation and financing of projects. “The initiatives that this corporation develops help us position ourselves as a competitive and attractive city for investment and talent“, he assured.
“The situation of CTA in the Cartuja Scientific and Technological Park It is key to its development. We have managed to create an ecosystem that fosters the growth of startups and high-impact technology companies. The Cartuja Scientific and Technological Park is the reference in southern Europe: with almost 5000 million euros of annual turnover and almost 500 technology companies. This ecosystem is the cornerstone on which we are building the future,” said Sanz during his visit, accompanied by the delegate of Cartuja, Innovative Parks, Mobility, Economy and Commerce, Álvaro Pimentel.
Finally, the mayor has valued the City Council commitment of Seville with technological innovation, ensuring that “the council will continue working hand in hand with entities such as CTA to continue making Seville a benchmark in southern Europe in terms of innovation and technological entrepreneurship.”
More than 800 projects in 20 years
Since its creation, CTA, which will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2025, has supported more than 6,000 innovative projects, encouraging 812 R&D&I business projects with an investment close to 205 million eurosmobilizing a total of 588 million euros. These achievements have positioned the entity as a benchmark in the region for business development based on innovation and technological knowledge.
CTA also maintains a outstanding international presence, being a reference partner in more than 55 international projects financed by the European Union and multilateral organizations. The corporation has collaborated with more than 500 entities from 45 countries, demonstrating its ability to generate global alliances that promote R&D&i in Andalusia.
