The Dominican Republic mourns the death of Johnny Ventura, a merengue singer who became a legend of Latin music and ceased to exist on Wednesday, July 28 at the age of 81.
The artist’s funeral, known as the ‘Big Horse’ and the ‘King of Meringue’, It began on Thursday 29 with an intimate wake between relatives and close friends.
On the second day, he was honored in the Chamber of Deputies and the Mayor’s Office of the National District, the center of the Dominican capital, due to his political career as a congressman and mayor.

The late artist suffered a heart attack while having lunch in Santiago de los Caballeros, north of the Caribbean island. He was transferred to a clinic, but they were unable to replace him.
