For more than 20 years, The cast of Jackass has gone through multiple situations and injuries that have served as entertainment for fans of this type of show. But, recently, one of the most emblematic members and creator of the program, Johnny Knoxville, stated in an interview for The Howard Stern Show that a stunt involving a bull caused him a “broken wrist and rib, concussion and brain hemorrhage”.
What did Knoxville say about the accident he suffered?
In the interview, Knoxville revealed that the stunt caused serious damage to his brain, greatly affecting his cognitive abilities.. “I had a brain hemorrhage from that, so my cognitive abilities were in steep decline after that hit,” the actor said.
“No one in my family was happy with the trick and the bull hit was the worst I’ve gotten from one in all the time I’ve been doing the show. Like I said, my cognitive abilities really went down. I remember having some tests done and the neurosurgeon said, ‘Are you having trouble paying attention right now?’ I said, ‘Yeah, why?’ He says, ‘Because you got a 17 on (the test).’ That’s 100… Now I laugh, at that moment I was like ‘Oh, no’”, he always expressed with the humor that characterizes him.
What types of recovery treatment did Johnny Knoxville have to undergo?
“I had to go through all kinds of treatments, transcranial magnetic stimulation, which buzzes your head with magnets for about 30 minutes at a time for 10 to 12 treatments over a two-month series and it’s supposed to help with depression and with my cognitive abilities. It was very hard to come back. I was trying to edit the film at the time, but I couldn’t sit still.” The actor was honest, who also said that he suffered from depression due to the consequences of the blow he suffered.
What else did Johnny Knoxville say in the interview for The Howard Stern Show?
The creator of Jackass said on the radio show: “I can’t take any more hits to the head. My brain was playing tricks on me. I got really depressed and focused too much on things. I had to start taking medication for the first time in my life. It changed me completely, that and doing therapy.” In addition, he added: “It was a very tough recovery from this last injury, but now I am very well. I feel like I’m healthier than ever.”

When is Jackass Forever released?
Knoxville, who has described that brain injury as one of the strongest injuries he has suffered in the making of the show (either on TV or in the movies), along with one he sustained to his penis, after he attempted to perform a backflip on a motorcycle in 2007, he’s not sure he’ll do any more crazy stunts from now on.
For now, we can see him and his crazy group again from February 4 in theaters with Jackass forever.
