A passenger car the driver ran into a horse early Saturday morning in Joensuu, says Eastern Finland's police. The accident was survived with minor injuries.
The collision happened at half past six in the morning at the intersection of Ilomantsintie, or national road 74, and Jakoskoskentie. The accident site is located approximately 20 kilometers east of the center of Joensuu.
The car had been driving down Ilomantsintie in the direction of Joensuu, when a free horse had run in front of the car from Jakoskoskentie. The speed limit on the road is 80 kilometers per hour.
Both the driver of the car and the horse suffered minor injuries in the collision. According to the police, the horse continued its journey after the crash. The front of the vehicle was damaged.
The owner of the horse was not there when the collision occurred, but the police have contacted the owner. The police tell HS that the horse had probably escaped and therefore ended up free on the highway.
No crime is suspected in the case.
